Cramer 114 is a Smart Lab with an occupancy of 40. It is equipped with the following:

  • A SMART Podium ID390 27″ Interactive Pen Display
  • an UF-80 DX Samsung Digital Presenter
  • Two Epson G6570WU Projectors
  • Two 200 inch Built-in Retractable DA-Lite screens
  • Two Sony PTA HD Cameras
  • A Sennheiser WE 100 G3 Wireless Lapel Microphone and Receiver
  • Six Ceiling Speakers
  • Six Ceiling Micks
  • The walls of the lab have been painted with White Smart Paint which enables students to use the wall surfaces as whiteboards
  • Instructor Computer: Custom Built Intel Core I7 5930k, 32GB of RAM, 500GB SSD with 1TB HD, NVIDIA GTX 960 video card with 4GB of GDDR5 Memory and, equipped with Windows 7 Professional, a full suite of Instructor Software, a ASUS DVD/VCR, Atlas Sound PA40G Amplifier, an Extron DTP Crosspoint 84 Series, Extron MAV Series AV Matrix Switcher, Extron Sharelink 200, Crestron CP3N Series, Extron DTP HDMI 230Rx, Extron HDMI DA2, Sennheiser True Diversity Receiver, and three web conferencing platforms; Skype, Adobe Connect, and Mediasite.
  • Twenty-four Student Computers: Windows 7 64 bit PCs and National Instruments Digital Electronics FPGA Board for NI ELVIS II. The onboard field-programmable gate array (FPGA) gives the instructors the ability to teach introductory and advanced digital electronics and digital design concepts, as well as hands on experience for the students. The NI ELVIS II board can also be used with NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS) II/II+ integration, to provide educators and students with a complete instrumentation suite to build test benches with real-world signals.
  • Three collaboration areas: Two of the collaboration areas are equipped with 55 inch LED monitors with remote PC hook ups for the rack computer. They have custom made lab tables with 6 hard wired Internet connections and 6 electrical outlets. At these collaboration areas, students can log onto the Internet and interact with distance courses around the world. The third collaboration area in the “Smart” Lab is equipped with a Samsung 40″ LCD Touch SUR. Samsung SUR40 is the new generation of Microsoft Surface experience featuring PixelSense technology. This new technology allows the computer to recognize fingers, hands and other objects that are placed on the LCD screen. Students and instructors can now share and collaborate using a large, think display.
  • Objet24 Desktop 3D printer: Once their design has been completed, students can create a prototype on the Objet24 Desktop 3D printer. This printer is the first desktop system to create true-to-life models featuring strong material, small moving parts, thin walls and smooth, paintable surfaces. These prototypes are highly accurate and can be painted, drilled, machined or used for vacuum forming. Students can use their prototypes as visual aids or test for fit and assembly and functionality.
